WACK News Update 05/02/13

Pollen count is high today and the unseasonably warm temps will make it more difficult for allergy sufferers…..

A 26 year old Auburn man who was just released from prison recently will be heading back to jail. Police say William Singletary who was a level two sex offender coaxed a 16 year old girl to have sex with him in his hotel room. Singletary faces 2 to 4 years behind bars and then five to fifteen years of supervision.

A 52 year old Canandaigua man arrested on Aggravated Harassment charges. Ontario County Sheriff’s say Amy Brandlin of Washington Street was picked up for an incident that happened on Tuesday.

Rose Chase expected to be in court tomorrow. She is the Stanley woman accused of killing her husband and then taking his body to her mothers property in Yates County and tried to burn the remains. She is being tried on second degree murder charges.

An accident in Canandaigua sent one man to the hospital. 27 year old Eric Hernandez allegedly ran the red light at the intersection of Rt 332 & Farm Brook Road. Hernandez taken to the hospital with knee injuries.

A garbage truck overturned yesterday in Romulus. The driver apparently was going to fast on Route 96 A when it approached a curve in the road and overturned dumping 1000′s of pounds of waste all over the road. Police ticketed the driver for unsafe speed.

Watkins Glen has earned the distinction of the second coolest town in America that according to a poll conducted by www.budgettravel.com. Watkins glen lost out to Littiz, Pennsylvania who was named the coolest city in America.

The NY Yankees have won six out of thier last seven wining last night 5-4 over the Astros.

WACK News Update 05/01/13

Sodus man charged with endangering the welfare of child after allegedly throwing his 7 month old son. 24 year old Marcus Wickham of Rotterdam road is also charged with criminal obstruction of breathing after a domestic disturbance. Police say Wickham allegedly choked his girlfriend. Police say Wickham will be back in the village of Sodus court later.

Following up on the story we told you about earlier this week…as expected Kodak filed the paperwork it’s reorganization plan. Kodak plans on issuing more stock and will reorganize it board.

A Butler man facing several charges including disorderly conduct and criminal mischief  Wayne County Sheriff’s say Matthew Bell of Butler Conquest road was allegedly involved in an altercation at the r-bar in Savannah. Police say then he refused to leave. While police were attempting to handcuff him he allegedly ground his teeth into the police cruisers back window causing damage. He wil be back in Savannah Town court later to answer the charges.

Just before midnight last night police arrested a 19 year old Farmington man. police say David King allegedly pushed a neighbor down to the ground and punched her in face during an argument on Terrace Lane.

A motorcycle accident with a tractor trailer sen the rider to the hospital. State Police say the crash happened about 1 p.m. o’clock Tuesday at the intersection of Route 13 and Alpine Junction in the Town of Cayuta.
The motorcyclist suffered serious injuries to their lower body.

A Manchester man charged with assault in the second degree. Police say 20 year old Stephen Verstreate allegedly shot another person in the arm with a pellet gun. Verstreate arraigned and remanded to the Ontario County jail without bail.

Petit larceny charges facing a Canandaigua woman. Ontario County sheriff’s say 42 year old Kimberly Cummings of South main st in Canandaigua allegedly would steal merchandise while leaving the tore after work. she is charged with 6 counts of petit larceny.

A Brooklyn man arrested in Canandaigua for Grand Larceny. Ontario County Sheriff’s say Brandon Logan allegedly was stealing the pin numbers from several inmates assigned for telephone privileges.

A new Federal grant will help some local fire companies. The Phelps, Hopewell and Northside fire companies will use the over 215 thousand dollars to purchase some new radios and pagers for improved communications. The money came from the Assistance to Firefighters program.

Looking for work. Today the Rochester Business Alliance will host a job fair featuring 11 top companies. There are 100 skilled jobs available,. The job fair starts at 8 AM at 150 state street in downtown Rochester. It is suggested that you have resume in hand.

WACK News Update 04/30/13

A Marion woman charged with endangering the welfare of a child and Criminal possession of a controlled substance. Wayne County Sheriff’s say 32 year old Terry Leonard of Huntley Road left her kids unattended for hours and was in possession of cocaine.

20 year old Cody Castle of Birchwood Drive in Farmington has been arrested in Canandaigua for possession of marijuana after a traffic stop in Canandaigua. he was also charged with driving an uninspected vehicle.

Kodak announcing a first quarter profit of 238 million dollars a complete turn around compared to last year at this time when they announced a loss of 366 million. Today is the day the company submits it’s plan to emerge from chapter 11 bankruptcy. Just last week it seemed like the Kodak of old when they sent out the annual bonus checks that employee looked forward to.

The lawyers for Cayuga nation are claiming sovereign immunity for the tribe.
the action is in response to  Seneca County suing the Indian nation for non payment of land fees, school and county taxes.

There has been plenty of speculation on whether or not Governor Andrew Coumo is running for president in 2016. Coumo yesterday tried to squelch that rumor. Cuomo said yesterday on public radio’s Capitol Press Room  there is “no truth” to speculation that he is talking about presidential politics and strategy.
The Governor says he’s focused on his 2014 run for a second term as governor. He has never ruled out a run for president.

Abby Wambach will play tomorrow night at Salen stadium when the Western NY Flash take the field to play Sky Blue FC. She has been cleared by doctors to return to the field. It’s the first time Wambach will play in front of the hometown crowd since joining the flash. Dick will have more sports in just a moment.

And part Downtown Rochester today is transformed into New York City as movie crews have started filming the new Spiderman movie  Main st in Rochester will be closed all this week, traffic will be rerouted, and several streets around the area are closed.
