WACK News Update 01/08/13

Dawn Nguyen expected in a Henrietta courtroom to answer charges that she is the woman who helped get guns for the shooter in the Christmas Eve Webster. It is alleged that the the 24 year old Nguyen purchased the guns that William Spengler used to kill two West Webster Firefighters and injured 2 others. Nguyen court get up to ten years in prison if convicted.

Meanwhile a couple of fundraisers today for the fallen and injured firefighters. Both the Distillery and Genesee Brewery are holding events to raise monies for the families of Mike Chpperinni, Joeseoph Hosteter Thomas Koczowka and Theedore Scardino.

It appears a settlement has been reached in the wrongful death lawsuit filed against Darien Lake Theme Park. The family of a double amputee Iraq veteran killed when he fell out of a roller coaster filed the suit after James Hackemer’s death in July of 2011. In the investigation that followed Police determined that operator malfunction was to blame for the accident. The AP is reporting that Jackhemer’s family will receive an award in excess of a million dollars.

A couple of Webster men charged with burglary and Grand larceny. Police say Patrick Mitchell and Brian Fisher stole a motorcycle and a ATV from a garage in Williamson. Police say arrest culminates a three-month investigation.

The defense is expected to ask for a delay until August in the trail of 16 year old Michael Pilato is accused of setting the fire that killed his father and two of his brothers in December of 2011

Wayne County Sheriff’s Deputies say A 47 YEAR OLD man charged with assault after punching a woman in the face, David Marriot of Lyons arraigned and remanded to the Wayne County Jail in lieu of bail.

A Macedon man has charged with DWI. Macedon police say 35 year old Michael Reed a BAC of .08% or higher. When he was stopped on Eddy Road. Reed will back in court next month.

New York State Governor Andrew Coumo wants a complete ban on Assault weapons. State lawmakers are working on bills that would help prevent a mass killing like the one in Newton Connecticut. The AP quoted the Governor as saying anything short would be “missing the mark”.

Kodak says it has inked a deal JK Imaging to license the Kodak brand name for certain consumer products including digital cameras, pocket video cameras and portable projectors. It means the Kodak name will remain on many products even though they will be produced by a different company.

The FIFA’s women’s world player has been announced and it’s Pittsford native Abby Wambach. She is just the second american to win the award. Mia Hamm won in 2001 & 2002.
