WACK News Update 01/09/13

Police say a Webster woman committed robberies of pizza shops in both Monroe and Wayne Counties. Barbara Cotie now charged with armed robbery in Wayne County for stealing from the Mark’s Pizzeria on Penfield-Walworth Road at gunpoint last November. Police also believe Cotie is responsible for similar robberies in Webster at a pizza shop and flower shop.

Investigation continues by the Brighton PD and the Rochester Fire Department in connection with the death of a woman whose body was found in the driveway of a home on Riverside Drive yesterday afternoon. Still no word on the victim’s name.

Geneva Police have made an arrest in connection with a home invasion last September. Police say they have in custody 29-year-old David Perez of Geneva. Two other Edwin DeJesus and Orlando Perez-Lopez are still at large. The invasion happened on Hamilton Street in Geneva & Police say the three men bound and tied up two people while stealing cash, other items.

An Irondequoit Doctor learns his fate today. Stephen Divito faces up to 15 years in prison at sentencing today. Last October Divito plead guilty to aggravated vehicular manslaughter and other charges. He was in involved in a crash on The lake Ontario State Parkway in November of 2010 that claimed the lives of Jim and Pat DePinto of Greece.

Governor Andrew Cuomo is delivering his State of the State address this afternoon. Some of the major points are expected to be gun control, raising of the minimum wage & overall economy in New York State. Coumo believes the current gun control laws in the state have significant loopholes. Coumo is anticipated to present a proposal to raise the minimum wage and talk about staying the course of balanced budgets. Senator Mike Nozzolio on the WACK Morning Show with Dick Reeves says the Republicans are behind a minimum wage increase. It depends on how much the Governor proposes.

Felony DWI charge, aggravated DWI and endangering the welfare of a child, and harassment in the second degree against a Canandaigua man. Ontario County sheriff’s arrested Jason Miller after a disturbance at his residence. the endangering the welfare of a child charge levied because his child under 15 witnessed the incident.

A 31-year-old Geneva woman arrested and charged with petit larceny. it is alleged that Barbara Dunham of Cherry St in Geneva stole, various items from Walmart. Dunham was issued an appearance ticket and will be in Geneva Town court at a later date.

Welfare fraud charges against a Canandaigua man. Jarrid Potter arrested on charges that he allegedly received welfare between June and September that he was not entitled too. The Department of Social Services says he had income two different employers during that period.

A Sodus man under arrest for criminal mischief in the fourth degree & criminal contempt in the second degree. Police say Adam Dye of Sudus violated his restraining order and broke some items during a domestic disturbance. Dye was arraigned and was remanded to the Wayne County Jail .
