WACK News Update 01/11/13

A Shortsville woman is charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance in the second degree. It is alleged that Christina Rommel sold narcotics in September of last year. She was arraigned and will appear in Manchester Town Court at a later date….

Two people from Greece are now facing a Grand Jury Indictment. charges against 32 year old Nakenya Cooper-Jenkins, and 34 year old Terrance Strong. The pair were arrested last month. It’s alleged the couple abused an eight & a 12 year old child.They face several counts of assault & endangering the welfare of a child.

Police say two teens were interrupted while committing a burglary early Wednesday morning by a delivery guy. Facing burglary and criminal mischief charges are charges are 17 year old Ryan Goetze and 19 year old Sean Platten from Irondequoit.

A Rochester teenager facing burglary charges in Ontario County. Police say 18-year-old Brandon Crawford and an unknown accomplice broke into several apartments near Finger Lakes Community College
the day after Christmas. Crawford allegedly stole several flat screen televisions. He will make an appearance in Ontario County again later.

A Canandaigua resident charged with third-degree menacing. Canandaigua City Police say 48-year-old David Noaker aimed a laser pointer at the officer that was in his driveway filling out a report after responding to a noise complaint between Noaker and his neighbor.

Geneva City Manager Matt Horn will have a little something more in his paycheck. The board approved a $5000.00 bonus as part of their yearly evaluation…

A motion for a delay has been granted yesterday afternoon in the case against Michael Pilato. The teen is accused of setting a fatal fire that killed his father and two brothers in December of 2011. Jury selection is now expected to begin in April.

The principal of Newark High School has a new job. Kevin Whitaker is expected to join the Geneva school district as assistant Superintendent. He will replace outgoing Lawrence Wright who has taken the Superintendents job in the Solvay union free district.

And, You’ve heard the expression it’s going around….Well yes it is…..Over 2,000 case of the flu reported in our area.

WACK News Update 01/10/13

Up to 11 years behind bars for a former Palmyra man. 42-year-old Mark Chapman plead guilty last month to sex abuse charges involving a person under 17.

An Irondequoit Doctor is heading to prison. Five to fifteen years, the maximum for Dr. Steven Divito who plead guilty to charges of driving drunk when he was involved in an accident that claimed the lives of Jim and Pat DePinto of Greece in November of 2010.

Governor Andrew Coumo delivered his state of the State address yesterday and as expected he talked about gun control saying he is proposing a on assault weapons and ammunition clips that carry more the 10 bullets. He also wants jump the minimum wage from $7.25 per hour to $8.75 per hour

A promotion for State Assemblyman Joe Morelle. The Democrat from Irondequoit is now the second highest member of the New York State Assembly. Yesterday Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver appointed Morelle to that post.

Rochester’s former top cop will be in Brighton. Bob Duffy, the former police chief in Rochester will address the crowd at the Brighton Town Hall around 3 today. It is one of several meetings are being held across New York State today lead by members of Governor Cuomo’s cabinet.

Two Webster teens are facing charges in Ontario County. Deputies say
17-year-old Alyssa Dibiase and 19-year-old Chelsea Dibiase will answer charges they stole about 250.00 from the Macy’s store in Eastview Mall. They are due in court at a later date.

We told you yesterday about The motion filed by the defense in the case against a Webster teen for a fatal fire back in Decenber of 2011. that motion will be decided today. 16-year-old Michael Pilato is accused of stetting a fire that killed his father and two brothers. His attorney filed the motion hoping to delay the trial until April.

And, A nice tribute yesterday to the fallen firefighters from West Webster. Just before the governor’s state of the state address yesterday. Andrew Couomo honored the families of the two west Webster firefighters gunned down on Christmas Eve. The families Lt. Mike Chiapperini & Tomas Kaczowka were presented New York State flags.

A portion of route 104 in Williamson was closed for a few hours this morning due to an accident between Pound and Town line Roads. That stretch reopened around 8 this morning.
