Over the weekend ,In light of the more than 20, 000 cases of the flu reported in New York State so far this season, Governor Andrew Coumo declared a public health emergency for the state. We are already at more than 4 times the amount of cases reported all of last flu season.
County sheriff’s has announced a new Sex Offender Watch program. Several police agencies has combined their efforts including Clyde, Lyons, Macedon, Newark, Palmyra, Sodus, Sodus Point and Wolcott police departments. Together the new program will help keep better track of the nearly 300 sex offenders living in Wayne County.

Calling hours this week for a Wyoming County soldier who was shot and killed in Texas, Austin Sampson, 25, from Bliss, was shot outside in front a convenience store in Killeen, Calling hours will be held for Specialist Sampson Calling hours are on Wednesday & Thursday at Robinson and Hackemer Funeral Home in Warsaw.
A couple of Canandaigua woman are charged with Petit larceny and conspiracy in the 6th degree. Police say Elizabeth Gaytor and Barbara Maltby were stuffing item in their purses at the Walmart in Hopewell. Both women will appear in Hopewell Town Court at a later date.
A Victor man caught stealing at BJ’s Wholesale Club. Police say they have charged 18 year-old Justis Reidy with Petit larceny. He was arrested and issued an appearance ticket for Victor town Court at a later time.
