Wayne County Sheriff’s arrested at five people in the county as part of their crackdown on welfare fraud and related charges. Those charged range from collecting unemployment while collecting DSS to receiving food stamps while not living in the county. Police estimate those charged defrauded the people of the state of about 15 thousand dollars. Those arrested were processed in Lyons Town Court and will reappear at a later time.
The woman who allegedly robbed pizza shops in Webster and in Walworth has copped a plea deal. As part of that deal 55-year-old Barbara Cole will likely get 3 and a half years in prison when she is sentenced in April in Webster Court. She already plead guilty to similar charges in Wayne County and is expected to get the same sentence.
17-year-old Jeremiah Acquilano will be back in Ontario County Court today. He is the teen chard with criminally negligent homicide in connection with the death of his friend Dylon Brewster last May. At today’s court appearance a judge will decide if certain evidence can be used in the trial
Thumbs up for tax breaks for the I-Square project. the Irondequoit Town Board approving the 25 year deal last night with developer Mike Dolan. The tax pact now goes on to COMIDA for Final Approval where it is expected to pass. Ground breaking on the revitalization project on Titus Avenue could happen next month.
A Farmington man facing Unlawful possession of Marijuana charges. Ontario County sheriff’s say they’ve arrested 39 -year-old Samuel Lee Daniels of Terri Drive Just before 7 pm last night. He was issued an appearance ticket and will be in Farmington Court at a later time.
The Wood Library in Canandaigua remains closed today from the water damage caused when a pipe burst on Monday. The water caused damage to some of the libraries fiction and children collections. The Library will reopen when the carpet has completely dried.
