WACK News Update 03/29/13

The New York State budget was delivered on time before the April 1st deadline for the third straight year. The State Assembly signed off on the 135 billion measure late last night. The budget includes a $350.00 dollar rebate for families with at least one child and an increase in the minimum wage over the next three years.

A Newark man arrested for a alleged domestic dispute with his ex wife. Wayne County Sheriff’s say 30 year old Bradley Serrett of Washington St.in Newark charged with Criminal Contempt after violating his refrain from order of protection that was in effect. Serret will reappear in the Town of Newark court at a later time.

The Canandaigua woman who faked that she had cancer is heading to state prison. 31 year old Melissa Jones 1 2/3 to five years behind bars. Jones claimed she had cancer and several benefits were held on her behalf and she pocketed the funds. She will have to make restitution of 42 thousand dollars.

Also out of Canandaigua,  police have charged a Rochester man with Robbery and forgery.  24 year old Erik Olsen is alleged to have forcibly taken a purse and forged a couple of checks and cashing them for over a thousand dollars. Olsen arraigned in Canandaigua City Court and remanded to the Ontario County Jail without bail.

Wayne County Sheriff’s have arrested a Wolcott man for possession. 49 year old Robert Terry of East Main St., Wolcott was passenger in a vehicle when police made a traffic and noticed Cocaine in the ashtray. Terry also charged with consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle.

Petit larceny charges for a Canandaigua woman . Police say 27 year old Melissa Brisbane allegedly stole over $400 dollars worth the merchandise form the Walmart in Hopewell. She was arraigned in Canandaigua Court and released.

Word out of Xerox that they have named Kathryn Mikells as its new chief financial officer succeeding Luca Maestri who left to work at Apple. The 47 year old Mikells joins Xerox on May 2nd, She will be the second top female executive after CEO Ursula Burns.

One of the hottest tickets this year will be a ticket for the PGA Event at Oak Hill CC this summer. Officials say Saturday and Sunday daily grounds tickets are now sold out. The PGA Championship is August 5 to the 11th in Pittsford.

It’s on the the Elite Eight….

The Syracuse Orange are in the elite eight. Syracuse knocked off the number one seed in the east bracket with a 61-50 win. The orange move on to play Marquette who eliminated Miami. for the right to move into the final four. You can hear that game at 4:30 pm tomorrow right on your sports leader 1420 WACK.

Meanwhile, disgraced former assistant coach Bernie Fine is in the news again. Fine is suing ESPN for defamation. Fine was fired after 35 season as the assistant under Jim Boehiem after sex abuse claims involving Ball boys. No charges were filed against Fine.

New York Yankees Alex Rodriguez may be on the disabled list until the all star break but get a load of this. Rodriguez is going to make 29 million dollars this year as part of his contract. The is more than the entire payroll for the whole Houston Astros team this year. Remember we are you home for New York Yankees baseball all season long 1420 WACK.

Dick, Did you ever play dodge ball in school? Well, A New Hampshire school district has banned dodge ball and other “human target” activities over concerns about violence and bullying. The school board in Windham voted 4-1 last week to remove the game and nine others from the district’s curriculum.

Dick, you know we always hear about new births…And most of the women ask ho much did he weigh or how long is he or she? Well, I feel sorry for this poor women in England who gave birth to a big baby. How Big? George King, who was born weighing 15lbs 7 ounce, has been allowed to return home after he almost died during birth because of his staggering size. Right now he He is now is 2 ft 2 inches tall and has to wear baby clothes suitable for a six-month-old.

WACK News Update 03/28/13

A Newark man faces 10 years in jail after pleading guilty to Child Porn Charges. Police say they were alerted by a family member that 49 year old David Mullie had sexually explicit photos on his computer  Police found several hundred images of children being sexually abused. Sentencing for Mullie is in September.

Grand Larceny charges facing a Shortsville man. Ontario County Sheriff’s say 32 year old Troy Younge Dismantled and sold a vehicle that did not belong to him. He will be in Manchester Town court later to answer the charge.

Two men are charged with animal cruelty after allegedly shooting and killing two cats. Seneca County Sheriff’s say Robert Wyamn of Interlaken and Jerimiah Randall of Ovid shot and killed the cats with a rifle in Ovid earlier this month.

A routine traffic stop in Manchester has a Macedon man facing charges. Ontario County Sheriff’s say 26 year old Hank Rock was pulled over for an expired registration and was discovered to be in possession of marijuana  Rock also charged with driving without insurance.

Police have arrested a Port Byron man for allegedly shoplifting from the Geneva Walmart. Ontario County Sheriff’s say 20 year old Thomas Hitchcock of Denman road allegedly concealed a radar detector and left the store without paying. Hitchcock was arraigned in Geneva Town court and will return later.

A 32 year old Victor man facing assault charges after he allegedly pushed a female victim causing a deep laceration. Joshua Jones of Salem Circle in Victor is also to have alleged to be holding the victim down as she was trying to get away and all for help. Jones sent to the Ontario County Jail in lieu of bail.

The Syracuse Orange are back in action tonight as the NCAA Tournament resumes. the orange in the sweet 16 and will play Indiana the #1 seed in the east bracket. Orange fans remember back in 1987 when Syracuse lost the national championship game on a last second shot by Keith Smart of Indiana. Dick, How this for a pet. 39 year old Darrell Boyd of parry is in trouble for possessing a Burmese Python a very dangerous constrictor snake. DEC and State troopers removed the snake from Boyd’s residence and took it to the bureau of wildlife in Buffalo. Boyd will be back in court in May.

The material girl is truly a material girl. The iconic Madonna has just become a Billionaire. She recently made nearly 400 million on her 2012 tour and with her merchandise sales coupled with TV and DVD rights has vaulted her to the 10 digit mark.

Dick, You’ve heard of the expression you snooze you lose. Well, A woman at real estate office in Florida decided not to participate in the office lottery pool. and guess what the rest of the office had won. She thought it was a prank when she showed up at work and her co-workers were all hugging and laughing. Her boss sat her down and told her it was true. The office has decided to cut her in anyways. no word on how much.

WACK News Update 03/27/13

50 thousand dollars in damage. that’s the estimate by Bill Cram Chevrolet in Seneca Falls related to scratches on cars by vandals sometime between Saturday night and Sunday Morning. Some of the cars were marked with an X. The dealership is offering a 5 thousand dollar reward for information leading to the arrest of the vandals And Seneca Falls police are continuing their investigating.

State lawmakers worked into the early morning but,  it paid off as the senate approved a new state budget 4 days before deadline  The assembly now has to sign off on it in order for the complete budget to be on time by the April 1st deadline.

Meanwhile, Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver says New York State will spend $27.74 million to develop the first statewide electronic handgun permit database as part of its new gun control law.

Two Newark men are accused of stealing from the Flint Boces on County Road 20 in Seneca. 45 year old Eddie Bush & 44 year old Mondrott Menzies charged with petit larceny for allegedly taking scrap metal worth about two hundred dollars.

An 80 year old hospitalized after a crash on route 5 & 20 yesterday afternoon. Ontario County Sheriff’s say Mary Howes fell asleep behind the wheel. her car left the road and struck a tree. She was treated and released.

Petit larceny charges for a Canandaigua woman. Ontario County Sheriff’s arrested 28 year old LaraJean Baker after she allegedly stole over $400 worth of merchandise for the Walmart in Hopewell.

Ontario County sheriffs have made an arrest in connection with a burglary in Victor. Police say 26 year old Kyle Digiago & 25 year old Zachary Nettles allegedly burglarized a home on Hidden Brook Trail. They were stopper by deputies on Route 490 and charged with Burglary in the second degree.

Robbery charges facing a 26 year old Rochester man. Ontario County sheriff’s say Michael Privitera is accused of stealing a purse from The Macy’s store in Eastview mall and having a Physical altercation with store security. He will reappear in Victor Town Court at later time.

Assault charges facing a Canandaigua man. 32 year old Steven Welch of Green Street is accused of striking another man with his fists on County Road 46 in Canandaigua. The victim required stitches.

Welfare Fraud charges for a couple of Canandaigua residents. Sheriff’ Deputies say 33 year old Shannon Herendeen and 26 year old Lloyd Henderson both of North main Street allegedly presented numerous documents to the Ontario county Social Services saying the were providing child care for children not in their care during the days and times presented. They obtained benefits they were not entitled too.

Yesterday we told you that the Yankees were trying to acquire Vernon Wells. Well, Now it’s official now Vernon Wells formerly of the Los Angeles Angels is now wearing pinstripes or the New York Yankees. Wells in the line up yesterday batting 6th and playing right field.
