WACK News Update 03/06/13

An attempted of the Newark OTB has landed a Lyons man in jail. Police say 51 year-old Reginald Bracey entered showing what appeared to be a handgun and demanded money. After Police responded to the call they found Bracey nearby in the library. He is charged with Attempted Robbery in he First Degree and Menacing in the Second Degree. Bracey is in the Wayne County jail without bail.

The New York State Assembly gave the thumbs up to raising the minimum wage. to nine dollars per hour. The bill approved 101-44 after a lengthy debate. it now moves on to the Senate where it is expected to run into resistance.

Could Red light cameras be coming to Geneva? Geneva City Manager Matt Horn will make a presentation tonight to the City Council about installing cameras at key Geneva intersections to monitor those who run red lights. Horn’s presentation will be to see if there is any interest by the city council in perusing the idea.

Felony DWI charges facing a Sodus man. Wayne County sheriff’s say 48 year-old Neal Grinnell of Centenary Road was traveling northbound when his car went off the road and got stuck in a ditch. Police say Grinell left the scene. he was later arrested at home and remanded to the Wayne County jail in lieu of bail.

Another DWI arrest in Bristol. Ontario County Sheriff’s say 23 year-old Bradley Dilcher arrested after a traffic stop on State route 29A.  The Conesus sent to the Wayne County jail for pre-arraignment detention.

A couple of teens arrested for Petit Larceny. Ontario County sheriff’s say 19 year-old Alexis Maltby and 18 year-old Conley Grayton accused of stealing merchandise from J.C.Penny at Eastview Mall. They will be back in Victor Town Court to answer those charges.

You may have some money in the state’s hands that belongs to you. State Comptroller Mike Dinapoli wants to return nearly 12 billion dollars back to state residents. The unclaimed funds are from inactive bank accounts, insurance companies and utility companies. To see if you have money coming log onto www.osc.state.ny.us

One of the Buffalo Bills better pass rushers has retired. Shaun Merriman making the announcement saying he wanted to retire on his own terms while he could still play the game. the 28 year-old Merriman had 17 tackles and 1 sack last season and was elected to 3 pro bowls. New York Yankees Star First baseman will not be playing the the World Baseball Classic  Word out of Arizona at spring training that Mark Teixerira injured himself while taking some warm up swings and suffered a strain on the inside of his wrist. the x-rays were negative but the MRI did reveal a strain. Teixerira will be out of action for a minimum of 2 weeks.
