Tuesday night is usually a training night for the West Webster Firefighters. Instead the about 75 members and their families grabbed some pens and starting writing thank you notes to the community who showed support. Nearly 1800 notes of thanks sent out, with more o go….

Meanwhile, Greece Police Officer John Ritter was honored or his help in the Christmas eve ambush in West Webster. Ritter was injured that morning when struck with shrapnel  There is a petition to try and get Officer Ritter a medal of freedom.

Charges of extortion for a Livingston county man. Police say John L. Lyons, of Caledonia, posed as a private investigator hired by one of families embroiled in a bitter battle over a business. He then offered to hand over information that would incriminate that party involved for $25,000. He faces up to ten years in jail if convicted.

As expected the New York’s Legislature passed the nation’s toughest gun control law after a lot of conversation yesterday afternoon. the new law is calling for a tougher assault weapons ban and provisions to try to keep guns out of the hands of the mentally ill who make threats.

An Irondequoit man facing robbery charges in Wayne County . Sheriff’s Deputies say Joshua Angel Colon threatened to use a gun to steal money from a customer in the parking lot of a gas station on Route 104 in Ontario earlier this month. There was a brief standoff while Police were trying to arrest Colon at his home yesterday. Colon is now in the Wayne County Jail without bail.

A former media director for the Syracuse University’s Athletic Department in Onondaga County Court yesterday. Roger Springfield plead not guilty that he made locker room videotapes of male athletes.He was fired from the college last fall after it’s investigation.. He will be back in Onondaga County Court Later this month.

A meeting this afternoon in Canandaigua for the Environmental Quality Committee of the Ontario County Board of Supervisors. It will be held in  County Office Building. One of the items on the agenda is to update information on a landfill and waste plan.

A three month reprieve for Soda sellers violating New York City’s crackdown on super sized sugary drinks, but a size limit still is set to take effect as planned in March. Officials say The crackdown fights obesity; the opponents call it unfair and overreaching.

The Buffalo Bills are still waiting…waiting for Erie County’s approval whether or not a new waterfront stadium is in the works.The memorandum would guarantee the Bills will stay in Buffalo,  with countless stadium improvements.That memorandum hits the Eris County legislature early next week.
