WACK News Update 02/04/13

A father who is charged with his son’s death expected back in court today. Karl Karlsen is expected to appear in Seneca County Court with an attorney to be arraigned and answer those charges. Karlsen’s son died when he was crushed under a truck.

There was a School bus accident this morning in Pittsford. Officials say it happened Shortly before 7:30 am  at the intersection of West Bloomfield Rd and Thornell Rd.  No children reported injured. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department continues their investigation.

Nine students arrested in an apparent brawl on the Syracuse University campus outside the student center. It happened about 1:40 am after a student dance yesterday morning. The police are still investigating.

Police were busy over the weekend with their stop DWI campaign. Meanwhile a  Victor man facing DWI charges. Police say 35-year-old Sean Heuttish was stopped for failing to keep right on East Victor Road. Upon further investigation they determined that Huettish was intoxicated. He will appear in Victor Town court to answer those charge.
Another DWI arrest in Manchester. Ontario County Sheriff’s say Edward J Monroe the 3rd was sleeping behind the wheel while the vehicle was still in drive. He was issued a citation and will appear in Manchester Court later.

Unlawful possession of Marijuana charges against a Canandaigua woman. Ontario County Sheriff’s say 24 year old Zenny Hatley was in possession of Marijuana after an investigation during a traffic stop. She will answer those charges in Canandaigua Town Court at a later date.

A Canandaigua woman charged with Assault in the 3rd degree. Ontario County Sheriff’s say Davelle Lynn Barry was arrested after she allegedly hit her husband in the head with a piece of wood following a domestic dispute. She was held in the Ontario County Jail .

A victor man facing Aggravated Unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the second degree. Ontario County Sheriff’s Deputies say after a routine traffic stop that Natosha Nicole Miller driving with 12 active suspensions and or revocations on her license. Miler was taken to the Ontario County Jail and will reappear in a Victor Town Courtroom later.

The owner of the Steamboat landing is seeking to get a new mortgage  Authorities say David Genecco is seeking to get a second mortgage on the Canandaigua Lady. Canandaigua city officials are expected to vote later this week on a proposal to grant permission for Genecco to apply for a loan.

There could be a new casino down the road to the west of us. Several media outlets are reporting the Gov. Andrew Cuomo is possibly planning to propose a new casino in Niagara Falls. There is of course the casino owned by the Seneca nation already there. A contract dispute between the tribe and the state is currently underway.

The Syracuse Orange back in action tonight as cuse tries to avoid three consecutive losses to un-ranked teams. The Orange lost to VIllanova and Pittsburgh last week. Syracuse is currently 18-3 overall and 6-2 in the big east. You can catch tonight’s game right on your home for Orange basketball 1420 WACK.
